| Good afternoon Lady and Gents of AVD. As my favorite holiday gets closer, it's time to introduce some competitive fun into our midst! Horror Stories are an extreme and fun genre and not always the easiest to write, which is why it's great for a contest!
Lets start with rules and guidelines:
-It can be about anything but make it scary!
-This is a short story contest. Make sure it has a clear plot line: beginning middle and end, but also don't go overboard and post a mini novella.
-Post your submissions in the story section of the website with the title: Horror Contest Submission: (Title)
-Let me know when you post it as I might not always notice
-Stories are due by October 24th so I may have time to review and critique and take votes
Voting:
-At the end of the submission period, I ask everyone PM me with their vote for the winner. I will release the names of the winners and honorable mentions on Halloween
-I will also be posting a critique on every story following this guideline:
~~Plot line: 1-10
~~Story Structure: 1-10 (this includes things like word use, flow of the story, character development)
~~Scary Rating: 1-10
~~My Thoughts:
-It is optional for others to do this as well but my critique will be the main
I will also be posting a story, since this is a voting cast by everyone on the site (please note: you cannot vote for yourself) and I ask you guys also critique my story as well. I have just begun a Creative Writing major and need to work on my short story writing! This time limit gives you about a month to write your stories so I'm expecting great things from you all! Please post below whether or not you're joining (please do, there's only like 5 active people)
