Pokemon are a race of being that are basically like animals. Except they have super powers and can only talk by their names...(except pychics, and Meowth from team rocket)
Trainers from all over the world train, and capture Pokemon so they can be the best that no one ever was.
Trainers also participate in various Gym battles)
