Evelynn held out her arm to Steve. "I think you are very necessary. You were always ready to go at a moments notice, which can't be said for everyone else."

Steve found a few things that could help, but what would help more would involve getting her back to the HQ to be treated with better equipment in better conditions.
"In what sense?" Steve asked. "I don't think I'm very good at 'moment's notice' type stuff. Spells take time."
He looked down at the black and blue limb that Evelynn had.
"Wow...If I had taken a blow like that, I probably wouldn't have an arm anymore." He said, getting to work.

"If it helps ya' at all Steve, I feel much safer on missions with you than a stranger with a gun. You always seem to have something for the occasion, good or bad, but you still got somethin'."

That made Steve feel better the most. While everyone was being supportive, he could relate to Slayzo's words more. I always have something... he thought, proud of that fact. But now was time for healing Evelynn's arm. She'd probably put his arm in similar condition if he messed up.

I opened a cell phone and decided to call the shuttle bus to come pick us up. "Okay the bus will be here in about an hour or so"

"We shouldn't have to wait. The recall spell." Steve reminded them, finishing some basic work on Evelynn's arm. As long as she didn't move it too much before we got back, we were good for now.

"I already called them, professional politeness is to wait for them to come and pick us up" I said to them, as a joke. My tone suddenly shifted, and suddenly, I appeared A LOT more professional. "Now that the mission is over, I have something to tell you three. This mission was a test for your skills, Gwain is very impressed by your skills" I said to all three of them. "He was going to put you all on solo missions, however I suggested on of my missions as a test" I cracked my knuckles and hellfire coated my wounds recovering them quickly. "He agreed, as long as I was the one to evaluate your abilities" I cleared my throat. "So let's evaluate then shall we" I looked at them all and said "Before I evaluated you all, I need to evaluate you as a group. You are very good at coming together, as shown by my little cigar test on the plane, you all quickly came to your comrads aid, and I'm also proud of how quickly you came to my aid during the battle with Azula, that is a noble trait to have" I said to them. "However, the biggest flaw I've seen is your patience." I sighed. "I'll used before we even got to the cultists as an example, you all were willing to rush down the desert at god knows how fast, without knowing the enemy's strengths and weaknesses" I looked at them. "Take my advice, the old adage Fools Rush In is something you all need to learn very quickly on future missions. Yes, if we used Steve's spell we most certainly would have gotten to the cultists before they even summons Azula, however we would have alerted them to our presence, and made them jumpy and defencive." I sighed "There is nothing more dangerous than having a cornered rat to fight."

I adjusted my hand and suit and said "So, I would suggest you work on that" I gained a slow smile. "For your future top ten missions" I said to them with a small smile. "As far as I'm concerned, the Patience thing is more for a lack of experience than anything, I'm recommending all three of you for Top Ten promotions" I laughed and said "Just a fair warning, this stuff that I do normally, that nearly got two of us killed? That's the easy stuff, it's about to get a lot harder for you, but I know you three are up to the task"

We'd been played.
Steve stood up from where he crouched in the sand. It wasn't like he hadn't expected this, but it still kind of stung. It all seemed so...calculated. Like he was a number, almost. Of yeah, he was getting a top ten recommendation, along with his teammates. He should probably be more excited about this.
He forced a smile, which quickly died. They were all going to be in the most life-threatening situations imaginable.
Ah well. He always had the backup spell, and occasionally the recall to help.
He wouldn't let this guy know any more about Steve than he had to to function as a teammate.
Although, as Steve started to etch symbols in the sand with his staff, it was probably part of his play to begin with. The best way to unite a team is to give them someone they all hate, so they band up against that person, forming a relationship in hate and anger.
He stopped etching for a moment, looking up to a nearby sand dune. Where did he put that cat...

"This!" He said, running over to grab the glass animal, it was half-buried behind a sand-dune. He wouldn't have seen if it it hadn't been reflecting the gratuitous sunlight.
He put it in his bag (finally) and made his way back to the symbols his was drawing.

"I'm just practicing something. And I'd like to try and race the bus back to the plane at some point." Steve said, still going at the symbols. The sand was shifting slightly in the wind, disturbing his runes.

I cleared my throat. "I'm going in alphebetical order so Evelynn you will be first" I said to her. "You are very good with your earth bending magic, and very durable, that pillar should have killed you" I said to her point blank. "You are very lucky it did not" I sighed "However, there is a bigger problem, I have with you." I said sighing. "You don't know when to be professional and put your emotions on the side for the mission." I said to her with no hint of doubt on my voice. "I know you don't like me, I know you find that the fact I've simply stopped caring about these big bad world ending threats to be a bad thing." I sighed "That's fine, perfectly understandable, you don't have to like me" I then said "But you do have to work with me" I looked at her "And before you use the fact you helped me as evidence that I was wrong, or that you were hurt that's why you were slower. You punched me in my face, You put your personal feelings for me first, and even after I HELPED YOU, you still were doing that" I sighed and said "You wanna know what I saved you from earlier" I formed hellfire in my hand and then lobbed it at a passing lizard, which melted it to nothing but burnt skeletons "that, would have been you if I did not intervene." I sighed and said "You need to fix that problem because while I may have my problems, I am still your co-worker and comrade" I took a deep breath. "To end this on a positive note, it's not as bad as I've made it out to be, you did end up helping me with Azula, and you did help me seal her away. It shows me, that you can be professional despite you not being able to stand me, but it needs work." I said to her finishing her analysis

I was quiet. It's her examination, I have no reason to intervene.

I looked at Slayzo next. "You are quite the enigma Slayzo" I said to him. "You didn't do much, but still you made quite the impression. You have a very...my way or the highway kind of vibe. For example all the to risky ways you suggested to end the threat. While they may have worked, here's the very real scenario, what if they didn't. We would have no plan. Sometimes it pays to know the specifics, and also I don't know what you deal is with faeries, but hate to say it you may be fighting them. Remember, the mission comes first." I said to him quietly. "However, you seem very loyal, which is a trait I admire." I then said "You may not have done much, but you did enough"

"Well, the reason I dislike faeries is because they're hard to hit. Half the assholes have anti-projectile magic. Anyway, I work alone for that exact reason. I'll find their weakness, even if they don't have one. You miss all the shots you don't take. I appreciate your input, however."

I looked at Steve listening to Slayzo's items. I said to him. "Steve you really impressed me, while you do have a patience problem, like everyone else I've interviewed, you've shown great compassion, loyalty, and bravery" I said to him. "You listened to me, you were professional, and most importantly, when the chips were down you chose to overcome your own personal fears to do what was right for the world" I sighed "If I must be critical, and I do, I would say you're a bit to secretive" I said to him. "That is something that you need to work on, because we are your comrades, you need to trust us more" I sighed "Other than that I have no real complaint with you."
