Sandmen...

Simple, yet it works fine.

I like it.

I've got a general back-story for the sandmen that we can use later on as a side quest. Shall I save it for later, or tell it here?

Your character could know it, so you can tell us in the story later on in the side quest.

Items...
I have no clue what to do for Items.

Is it OK that I plan to have my character be a valkyrie?

Items, what items are you looking for? Reagents, charms, enchanted tools, normal tools, armor, what? I could give you a long list for pretty much all of them.

Yes, it'll follow the other Imaginor/Mythrin system of custom classes and races.
--
Items... Just about anything like rewards for sidequests, and charms. What should be the rarity of the certain items too?

First, we'll need a rarity SCALE, and a random drop SCALE.

Rarity, if we don't do a random drop scale, will need to have factored in the chance that a monster could random drop it, unless it's a one time sidequest. In THAT case, we need to make it one of the only ways to get that charm or tool.

Such as "Flaming sword of Blood drinking"

Sword's rarity is basically 400 out of a 0-500 scale.
Flaming is a basic enchantment. Minus 50 for being a basic enchantment.
350.
Blood drinking is a double sided curse, draining some energy from whoever it strikes, healing the holder.
Minus 40 for being a healing curse.
310
Plus 10 for being a possibly self harming curse.
320.

Now divide 500 by 5, and you get 100.
Our percentage scale for the drops or random chest loot is on a scale of 0% to 100%.

Divide The rarity of the weapon by 5 now, and divide it again by how many kinda of add-ons it has, which is Two. A Enchantment and curse.

320 divided by 5 is 64.

Now divide it again by that two.

32.

So in final, the percentage that monsters that drop that weapon, drop it, is 32% chance.

Now with a random drop chest, divide it by the amount of items you plan on having in the chest, by it's percentage. That's the chance that it'll be in the chest.

It's a buggy system, but it can work out alright.

Bump.

Oh, and 0 is basically the weapon of a god. It's pretty much impossible to get unless you talk the one person who has it, into giving it to you.

500 is basically sand. When all your weapons have broken, just grab some sand and aim for the face!

Is there a program that can do this, or do we have to write out own?

I don't know of one, but Through my five times editing that to change fail procedures, I think I can easily give a ranking, if you list a weapon and what it has, if it's not all in the title. I can PM you a rarity and percentage for that item.

As to what? Weapon ideas? Side-quests?

As for sidequests, We should honestly wait a few pages into starting before we throw in any side-quests. Possibly clearing out a cave to rest in while it rains or something, and they end up finding valuable ores they need to mine.

That would be a easy side-quest, since you would simply just go down there with a pick and begin mining. The better minerals you get, the better for you.

Oh by the way, are we going to incorporate a level up system or anything in this, or keep it strictly Oregon trail?

(P.S Oregon trail had some bugs. My friend was playing that a few years ago, his wife drowned in a 2.1 inch river...)

It wouldn't be raining it would be more a sandstorm.
--
A level up system might be too complicated, I don't want to confuse them more then already with the geography and back story.
--
Lets go with Side-Quests, we can collaborate on weapons as we go along.

Then what about simply leveling up weapons, through discovering better ores and such of a certain amount and during a stop, forging or improving a sword.
---
AAAANYWAYS, back on topic.
---
As for side-quests, we have one established...

What about saving a person from a monster attack? The person could be special or normal.
(Special being necromancers for the skeleton thing back a while ago, or a valkyrie.)

I actually plan for your first side mission to be saving my valkyrie character from a monster attack. Either that or my character was beaten by one of your characters, and he now helps you guys.

Which do you think I should go with?

I like the saving one better. Attacking a valk with one of my characters isn't my favorite thought.
--
The Ores was a good idea.

What else could we do?

Hmm, Maybe merchants are willing to reward you with some interesting items or money, if you clear some monsters from their current path?

Of course, he'd still charge you, just not as much as he would for a normal traveling merchant.

What about a blacksmith or a miner, looking for ore or supplies for a weapon/for a blacksmith?

What do you think would be a realistic reward or action for helping them, and would we help them mine, point them in the direction of a promising cave, what?

And btw, I've posted on pretty much everything already.

Realistic reward- weapons/armor improvement.

Action? Pointing, helping mine, defending mines, etc.

Joining the caravan to help you, being able to tell if it looks like a certain ore, (For miner)

For the weapon upgrading with ores, the blacksmith could do that at any time, and shorter time too. Since he knows what he's doing.

Would "Kill all the looters" Be a side-quest?

Basically, kill them all before one gets something and escapes.

Hm that would be an interesting side quest. It would be more a random event though.
