| Ray rushed forward, delivering several blows towards Darion, who swiftly blocked them. In retaliation, Darion pushed Ray's blade back, and swung his axe downwards at him, but Ray slid backward, barely dodging it.
"Heh, it wont be THAT easy Darion, you'll have to act faster than that."
"Don't mock me, rookie."
"I'm sorry, who's the one who went from an untrained paige to a Earth Demi-god? Not you!"
"Ah, screw you Ray, I've got places to go, people to kill, towns to destroy."
"Alright, see you next week." Ray began walking back down the stairs, as Darion kicked down a part of the wall, and flew out of the tower.
Ray stopped, about 20 feet down the stairs.
"...Shit, this is gonna be a long way down."
Ray looked around, but could not find any quicker way down.
He sighed, and looked down the stairs, so far down they provided fog before him.

The skeletons would die, then just get back up, as if they were perfectly fine, and unharmed.
"What's with these things? They don't stay down, even if you crush the head!"
"Even worse, only you had an easy time crushing the head, this sword and shield is horrible against skeletons."
"Shit, we're in a bit of a tight space, then."
"Until Ray gets back, at least." Dexio said.

| Ray arrived at the end of the hall, the entire team was cornered by the hole in the ground from Darion's ground smash.
"Alright guys, move a bit, I'm coming through!"
Ray began running to them, and Brutus and Trintilla tried to make space for him.
"Good to see you Ray, but we're in a bit of a bind here!" Brutus exclaimed, smashing a skull in, and kicking another away.
"Y-Yeah, we're kinda cornered, we can't give you much room..."Trintilla struggled against a skeleton, trying to push his bony hands away. She managed to push him away, but she slightly lost her balance.
Brutus quickly reached back with one hand and helped her regain her balance.
"Thanks."
Brutus nodded and spoke, "No problem."
A skeleton quickly Ran up and struck at her again, and before she could react, he bashed her with his shield, knocking her into the endless gap.
"SHIT, RAY!"
"I saw!"
Ray quickly jumped down the hole after her.

| Ray ran down the pitch black walls of the endless crack in the ground, but below, he saw something odd.
Cracks of light.
And Trintilla was still falling!
Shit Ray, get it together, stop focusing on the light...
The light was so enticing, as if it were...
Magic.
Ray ran quickly and jumped towards Trintilla, who had been yelling for Ray the entire time.
"RAY, HELP!"
"I'M TRYING!"
"RUN FASTER!"
"I'M TRYING!"
"YOUR NOT GOING TO MAKE IT! HURRY!"
"I'M TRYING!"
Try, Try, Try as you will, failure is simply run of the mill, Depression is like a sleeping pill, it effects you before the end of the thrill.
And I'm afraid this is one Thrill, that you'll find quite depressing.

| Ray dove off the wall to try and grab her, but missed. She was close to the cracks of light, so he dove again, but he missed, and he was simply a shield for her to crash through the ground.
Slowly, Ray faded from consciousness.
"Ray? Ray! Wake up! Wake up...Wake up..."
Ray jumped up, and looked around. They were outside the castle, Brutus, Dexio, and the gruff voiced man.
Ray looked around, panicked.
"Where's Trintilla!?"
Dexio put a hand on his shoulder.
"I'm afraid we couldn't even find her remains. I'm sorry, Ray."
"No! That's not possible, I shielded her from the main crash through the ground!"
"What crash? You were sitting at the bottom of the hole, she wasn't there."
"No, that's not possible! We fell through a hole in the bottom of the crack, I saw white lights coming from it before we crashed through! I heard her get off me and try to keep me awake!"
"You must have had a bad dream after the crash, there's no hole down there."

Ray jumped up and ran to the door, and yanked it open. They simply stood there, staring at him.
"What are you waiting for? Come on, we need to get Trintilla back!"
"Ray," Brutus walked up to Ray, and put a hand on his shoulder.
"She's still there! We can go save her! COME ON!" Ray ran inside.
Brutus looked back at the group. "We might as well follow, let him accept that she's gone."
They followed Ray, to the crack. Ray had already jumped down, the others went down a rope the Gruff voiced man provided, having it hooked into another crack in the ground.

| They got to the bottom, to see Ray punching the ground.
"Ray, don't strain yourself." The gruff voiced man spoke.
"NO, I KNOW SHE'S HERE!"

Ray looked back, staring at Brutus after his comment. "If doing my job is hopeless, why did you agree to help?"
"Your job-"
"I SWORE TO PROTECT HER!"
"Right, right..."
Ray continued smashing away.
One of his punches broke something away, and the bright white light was revealed.
"See! Now come on!"
Ray grabbed around the hole, and pulled hard, ripping a large hole in the ground, jumping into the light.
"Hey, wait for us, Ray!" Brutus jumped down.

| As the crew landed in the room, they looked around, adjusting to the bright lights.
Once their eyes adapted, they looked forward, to see Three bandits guarding a door, a man was screaming inside.
In the shadow of the door's window, he saw a man pull a girl with long hair across the silhouette room.
"TRINTILLA!"
From a faint whisper sound in the other room, he thought he heard someone call out his name.
Ray stepped forward.
"I need into that room."
"No can do, no one is allowed in the heart, unless you're a bloodcell."
"What does a blood cell do then?"
"They donate their lives to our cause, some unwillingly."
"And who are you three?"
"The white blood cells."
"And I'm guessing this place is-"
"The artery."

The three rushed forward, only for them all to be blasted backwards against the wall, one slamming against the metal door, and cracking his head open.
"Dexio, deal with the other two quietly while I pick the lock."
"Alright. Say, what are you gonna-"
Ray kicked the door down.
"Ah, that makes sense."
Ray looked around the black-grey hospital looking room.
"Has anyone seen a teenage blond haired girl in a dress come through here?"
A plague doctor walked past all the disfigured figures, and grabbed Ray's wrist, and began to escort him.
"Oh, OK."

| As the mysterious doctor showed Ray around, Dexio and Brutus followed, weapons ready, looking around at all the messed up creatures sitting in chairs around the area.
Brutus looked past a door's window while they walked, and saw a man being stabbed repeatedly by the white blood cells.
Such sick people...
Dexio looked past a counter room, and saw a zombie with half a face sitting in a chair, looking around.
My god...
Brutus looked to his left as they walked past another pathway, and saw a giant eye with feet and a stomach with a sharp toothed mouth on it, walking down the hall. He had to cover his mouth and close his eyes, to avoid vomiting.
What sick place is this...

| They stopped at a door labeled "Blood boiler" and he opened the door, and stepped aside, as Ray charged in, Brutus following him, Dexio coming through the wall.
They looked around, to see an empty white room. As they turned back to the doctor, he snickered a high pitched, imp-like snicker, and slammed the door shut.
Ray ran forward, and punched the door open.
"YOU WONT STOP ME!" Ray roared, and looked outside.
He looked around, in confusion.
Brutus walked out, with Dexio right behind him.
"What's wrong?"
They looked around, they were now in a boiler-looking room, with a large steam boiler.
"What the hell is this..."
"Was that room enchanted?"
"Coincidentally, yes, Brutus."
"Sheesh, no need to get sarcastic."
"J-...Just come on, let's get going, we need to get back into the hospital."

| Ray walked over, and looked around the boiler.
"Ah, here's a button-"
He pushed it, and it began to move. Once it moved, it revealed The birdman from Talu's destruction, with an army of undead behind him.
"Nice to see you again Ray, it's nice to see you've arrived with Trintilla, because I believe it is time to, how did you put it, match wit?"
Ray smirked.
"And what's the rule for this little game of ours?"
"I will ask you five questions. If you get one wrong, you fight this entire skeleton army. If you get two wrong, Trintilla dies."
Trintilla appeared behind the entire skeleton army, behind a purple barrier, with a skeleton holding a iron scimitar to her neck.
"Hmp, let's get on with it, bird brain."
Swain was somewhat annoyed by this comment.
"Very well. First question..."

"It was during your training with the elves of Virin Grassel that you discovered your first bits of magic, I know that much."

The skeleton army charged forward, and the battle commenced.
After they finished smashing heads, Ray looked over at Brutus.

Another skeleton brought Baylee out, in the same way as Trintilla.

Ray clenched his fists.
"I see your angry, but I can't comprehend it. You released this convict from prison, why are you offended?"
"Because, you're putting HER life on the line too!"
"Oh, you're angry because a dark incarnate is doing something evil? Oh, how sad your anger is, and how pleasing it is to see the look on your face."

"Now for the real next question. What is Darion's title?"
"Hand of the Carrion."

| "How many skeletons have you slain your entire life?"
Brutus and Dexio were sent reeling from the question, surly it was impossible.
"Impossible! No one could answer that if they've fought as many as Ray has!"
"Four hundred ninety eight."
Swain smirked.
"Correct, but you still don't win. KILL THEM!" Ray didn't have time to React, as the skeletons threw the two to the ground, and rose their weapons.
"NO!" The three yelled in unison.
Ching
The sound of metal against metal.
As the two looked again from their state of horror, Tracks blocked Trintilla's skeleton enemy, and a fire giant blocked the other one with the iron gauntlet it wore.
As the Fire giant smashed the skeleton against the wall and Tracks took the head of the skeleton he was against with a simple grab, The two Cheered. A red cloaked man appeared behind the fire giant, as it stepped to the side.

| The red cloaked man raised the cloak covering his face, to reveal a tan man with a smirk.
"Hey! It's you from the-"
"Yes, I am sorry I abandoned you when the snake men attacked, but Tracks found me, and made me come to your rescue. I suppose I owe this for you all not ratting us out to the snake men. Now, it's time to pay my debt."
"Saving Baylee was debt payment enough, helping us here is a favor."
"Alright, let's get to work then."
The barrier dropped, and the fire giant approached Swain, who had been replaced by a log, with feathers on it.
"Replacement magic?" The cloaked man said, tapping the log.
"Apparently so- Hey, where's the gruff voiced man?"
"I don't know, I thought he was right behind us." Brutus said, looking around.
"We better find him, this place isn't safe!"
Tracks spoke up while walking past, "I'll find him, you guys better hunt down Swain, he cannot be allowed to escape when we have him so close to an easy kill."
"Alright, let's go guys!" The entire crew went their ways, and the hunt began.

| Tracks came to realization, and turned around to the girls.
"I'd recommend following me, so you don't get caught again."
"I'd rather go with Ray, I trust him more." Baylee said, slightly sad.
"Yes, I agree with the prison girl." Trintilla said, nodding.
"They are going to fight the most powerful enemy in known existence. We don't want anything happening to you two, so please follow me."
They looked at each other, then looked back to Tracks and nodded.
"I understand, we should get going then, this gruff voiced man must be important."
They began walking out of the room.
"He betrayed Swain with the rest of the young assassins in his group, and he lead Ray to where the Godslayer sword is, he's been a lot of help to us."
"I see, what is the significance of this godslayer sword, exactly?"
"It's the only weapon we have to kill Swain and Darion."

"I see how he could be such a threat, if he had the tactics and the knowledge to defeat Talu. Isn't Talu the, or was the, biggest human area in known existence to these lands?"
"Correct, Almost every human town around was a part of our influence, we even extended our walls to include several villages in it, and they simply killed all the forest and poison blades, then poured in and killed all the Iron blades and my father, except one."
"And who is this one?"
"Ray. He got me out of the castle, and outwitted Swain into letting us escape."
"I see, so that's how you know who he is. Now, who is this Darion fellow?"

He was a leader of a clan of Paladins, and when she infected him with her complete darkness, she forced him to kill his entire clan single handed, and with his Godslayer axe, he had also been the one to kill Ovalitess."
"So, he killed her, she came back and captured his body, and made him kill everyone he knew?"
"He also captured temples, castles, and a mages tower, in which they took the mage's bodies over, to use them in the inevitable final battle."
"I see, so that is why you came to our king."
"Yes, that is exactly why. We needed the power the elves have over the forests and ranged slash magical warfare, to combat the magic power the corruption will have."
"Didn't you say they took over the Centaurs with corruption?"
"Then why have they not made the Centaurs attack Virin Grassel?"
"Perhaps because they want to save the full power of the centaurs for War?"
"That would make sense, I suppose."

"What kind of accusations?"
"Murder, illegal weaponry, practice of dark magics, many ridiculous claims."
"I see, tell us a bit about the childhood between you two."
"Well, I remember Ray used to call me Mythril eyes, because my eyes were as green as Mythril."
"what did you call him?"
"Dirty washrag."
"Why is that?"
"Because when he got in trouble, he had to scrub the floors, at home or at castle training."

"Well, it seems you two had an interesting childhood. What about you, Trintilla?"
"I was stuck in the castle reading most of the time, but sometimes dad would let me go watch the guards train. I think I met Ray there, but I don't really remember very well."
"I see. Well, we've reached the main halls now, don't look down the side halls, many horrors to the eyes are here."
"Tracks, how do you know so much about this place?"
"This is the heart of Darkness, Elvish knowledge-men were expected to know places like this inside and out."
"Why? They expect you to come here?"
"This is where monsters come to rest and regain their strength. Why Swain and his undead army were here, I am not sure, but the reason I need to know so much about this place, is because I'm a tracker. If they portal into the Heart of Darkness, I must know how to traverse there, and throughout the place."
"I see, you're a living map."
"That's exactly what I was raised to be."

| Tracks and the girls stopped at a door labeled Blood harvester.
"That's a horrifying name...Why are we going in here, Tracks?" Trintilla asked, slightly scared.
"Because this is where he is, I'm afraid."
Trintilla became shocked by what could happen to the gruff voiced man.
"We must hurry then, he could be in extremely deadly danger!"
Tracks kicked the door open, with his arms and face hidden under his Red cloak, much like the armor he wore underneath.
The group looked around. Many things that appeared like IVs sat around, except instead of a needle, they had small tubes at the end of them, and the tube led over to a glass jar.
"My god, that's sick..."
"The heart of Darkness is a dark place, the idea for this place was founded by a werewolf scholarman named Rigorio Mortallis."
"Like, Rigor Mortis?"
"Precisely."

| When they entered, a man was holding a scalpel for dear life to his neck, yelling about cutting himself and wasting his blood, if they get too close.
"Hey, gruff voiced man, is that you?"
"Yeah, I need a bit of help here, though."
He began to back up, but one of the doctors dove at him. In the blink of an eye, Tracks flashed forward, impaling the doctor in the head, and throwing him back. His mask came off, to reveal a zombie.
"Oh god, what the hellsgar is going on?" The man said, holding his scalpel to his side like a ready weapon now.
"This is the Heart of Darkness, a monster's hospital created by the werewolf scholar Rigorio Mortallis, for monsters to return to, to be healed and repaired for more havoc causing. Swain is here, we need to get you out of here quick. You protect the girls, while I deal with the doctors."
They backed out of the doorway, and looked around. He saw something, and ran back in, and reached under one of the beds, pulling out his crossbow.
"Hah, good thing they're bad at hiding weapons."
"Oh good, you can deal with this one then,"
Tracks swept behind the doctor and disabled his knee by putting his foot into the back of the joint of his knee, holding him down with his head exposed.
"Take a shot."
