Over the next few weeks, Vance stayed with Sydney, helping her tend the forest as she does. Even the animals warmed up to him, letting him feed and pet them. Sydney watched him during their time together, amazed at how not like humans he was. If their situation had been different, maybe she would have allowed her growing feelings for him to mature, but as it was, a human, the prince, and a dragon was not a suitable match. And so she was kind and he was wonderful and they lived well, until everything went wrong.
